The annarumma 404 gallery (ex 404 arte contemporanea) was born in Naples in 2002.

The space was founded by Francesco Annarumma. In the first two years he did his work not far from the Naples Central Station and then he moved in Via Santa Brigida 76, in the city center, very close to the famous castle called "Maschio Angioino". The new expositive space was inaugurated on 12th february 2004 with an exhibition called "The Perfect Number". It has established it self during these years as a space of research of the most representative young talents of the contemporaneity and for this reason annarumma 404 is considered one of the most interesting “cutting edge” art galleries in Europe.

The annarummma 404 actually has distinguished itself by the realization of the first solo exhibitions in Europe by US artists like Jen DeNike, Rashid Johnson, Eduardo Sarabia, Jo Jackson, Justin Lowe, Deva Graf, Kika Karadi, Erika Somogyi, Alix Smith, Kathryn Hillier and for work done with some young neapolitan talented artists like Domenico Antonio Mancini Vincenzo Rusciano and Ivan Malerba.

Since its first year of activity, the gallery has been invited to Italian art fairs (Artissima in Turin and Art First in Bologna) and International contemporary art fairs like LISTE, the young art fair in Basel (CH), in wich it took part for three consecutive years (2003/2005).
